SWIMMING LESSONS

Swimming lesson registration will be by mail only. Lesson applications will be processed in the order in which they are received and lesson assignments will be posted by June 22.  Once lessons have started, registration, scheduling changes, and problems will be resolved on a case-by-case basis through the Pool Office.  Certain sections of the pool may not be open for general swimming during swim lessons.

LESSON DESCRIPTIONS

Level I: Guppies (3-5 yr. olds).  Introduction to entering/leaving water through floating and gliding in water.  Two meetings per week: either Tuesday/Thursday or Wednesday/Friday for each time period in Sessions I and II. Not offered in Saturday lessons (Session III).
Level II: Beginner (5-7 year olds approx.).  Floating/gliding movements through water with use of arms and legs.  Front and back float.
Level III: Advanced Beginner. Moving through water on front and back to 1 lap with arms moving above water level.
Level IV: Intermediate.  1 to 2 laps, sidestroke, breaststroke and backstrokes.  Introduction to diving.
Level V: Expert level swimmer.  Swimming 2 through 20 laps, all strokes and dives.
Level VI: Improve on Level V concentrating on strength and endurance levels.

 

ADDITIONAL POOL ACTIVITIES


Private Lessons:  Individual lessons are $25.00 per 30 minutes and must be scheduled through the Pool Director.  Lessons will be scheduled during instructor's off-duty hours. Come to the Main Office for more information.

Handicapped and Adult Lessons:  Sign up through Pool Director's Office.

Junior Lifeguard Program:  An overview of water safety and simple rescue techniques for boys and girls ages 11 to 15.  Lessons are 9:15 to 10:00 am every Friday from June 29 through July 20.
                                                           
The Pirates Swim Team:  Extensive swimming practice and coaching.  Swim meets will be held against local communities.  Practices are 8:00 to 8:45 am, Monday to Thursday and begin on June 25.  Swim meet dates to be announced.   

Early Bird Club:  Enjoy a refreshing early morning swim to energize you for the day.  Swim early on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7:00 to 7:45 am.  Club begins Monday, June 25 and ends August 15.

Night Owl Club:  Lap swimming available for those over 21 years of age.  Swim late on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 9:00 to 9:45 pm.  Club begins Tuesday, June 26 and ends August 16.


Water Zumba:
  Workout to the rhythms of Salsa, Meringue, Tango and Samba Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.  Begins June 26 and ends August 16.

Water Aerobics:  A water exercise program designed to maintain good physical conditioning.  Days:  Monday, Wednesday, & Friday 9:30 - 10:30 am.  Begins Monday, June 25 to Friday, August 17.  Nights:  Tuesday & Thursday 6:00 to 7:00 pm.  Begins Tuesday, June 26 ends August 16. 

Slimnastics:  An indoor exercise program designed to maintain good physical conditioning. 
Days:  Tuesday & Thursday from 7:30 - 8:30 pm. Begins Tuesday, June 26 and ends Thursday, August 16.


Game Time:
  Nok Hockey, popular board games and card games are available.  Stop by the Pool Office for details. Pool pass required.
