The Sanitation/Recycling Department does the curbside collections three
times a week: twice for garbage, once for recycling materials and a third time for special pickups only during weeks without holidays. Every year residents
are
mailed a sanitation schedule which provides a collection
schedule for their respective areas and detailed information regarding disposal of trash,
tires, appliances, hazardous materials and more. If you have any questions, please
call 516-326-6320/6321 before you put anything out for curbside collection.
Orange tags are
used to notify residents when regulations are not followed. |

Yes, we do have a city of trees within our borders. A tree inventory done in 1988 determined that Floral Park has over 6,000 municipal trees. Since that time, the number of trees, valued at several million dollars, has increased. Floral Park was named a Tree City in 1993 by the National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters, the developers of this program. Our community has consistently met the four required Tree City standards since 1993 which includes the maintenance of a tree department, a village tree ordinance, a tree planting program, and Arbor Day observances. |
