Viewers While Promoting The Diverse Talents & Contributions
Of Community Groups, Organizations & Individuals.

Organizations, Schools, Government & 4VS.

When 4VS Programs Are Not Being Broadcast.

S Organizational Structure
 

Three Groups Comprise The Organizational Structure Of 4VS. 

All Four Village Boards Govern The Executive Level At 4VS.
The Founding Of Four Village Studio Was Authorized
By The Four Village Boards Of Trustees.

The Cooperative Contractual Arrangement That Funds
& Manages 4VS Is Sanctioned At The Executive Level.
 

A Five Person Volunteer Group Of Mayoral Appointees
Make Up The 4VS Cable Committee.  There Is One Member From
Each Village Plus One Additional Delegate From Floral Park.

Committee Members Serve As Intermediaries Between The Studio
& The Village They Represent.  The Committee Also Helps To
Create & Monitor Studio Policies, Procedures, Plans & Programs.

There Are Three Positions That Currently Comprise The
Administrative Division Of 4VS.  The Cooperative Agreement
Stipulates That The Floral Park Village Administrator Act As
The Administrative Director Of Four Village Studio.

To Sustain The Daily Organizational Requirements Of 4VS,
The Cooperative Established & Employs The Part-time Duties
Of A Cable Access Director & An Operations Manager.

Four Village Studio Is A Volunteer Driven Organization.

 Since Inception, The Studio Staff Has Averaged 40-50 People
Acting As Producers, Hosts, Crewmembers, Management,
Committee Members & Other Support Personnel.

 The Staff Is Diverse In Age, Experience & Background.

 Four Village Area Residents 15 Years & Older May Join
The Staff With No Prior Experience Required.

 Staff Members Join 4VS To Gain Career Experience,

o Perform Community Service, To Express Creative Talents,
To Make TV Contacts, To Partake In An Interesting Hobby,
To Teach The Next Generation Of Television Professionals,
Or To Spend Time With A Great Group Of People.

S History 

In 1992, During Negotiations To Renew Cablevision
Franchise Agreements, Village Officials Began To Explore The
Possibility Of Founding A Local Television Studio To Serve
Bellerose Village, Floral Park, South Floral Park & Stewart Manor.

A 1995 Cooperative Agreement Between The Four Village Boards
& The Cablevision Corporation Established The Future
Construction & Operation Of Four Village Studio.

The Studio Was Designed & Built During Mid 1997
And Is Located On The Second Floor/West Wing
In The Floral Park Village Hall.

 During The Summer Of 1997, A Volunteer
Staff Of Interested Residents Was Recruited
And Training Began During Early Autumn.

The First Programs Produced By Four Village Studio
Were Taped In Late November 1997.

4VS Programs First Went On-The-Air Via Cablevision
On Monday, May 4, 1998.

A 2007 Cooperative Agreement Between The Four Village Boards
& The Verizon Corporation Established A Second
Broadcast Venue For Four Village Studio.

4VS Programs First Went On-The-Air Via Verizon

On Thursday, January 24, 2008.

S Funding 

The Entire Annual Operational Budget For 4VS Is
Generated From A Portion Of The Franchise Fees
Paid To The Villages By Cablevision & Verizon.

 Local Tax Dollars Are Not Used To Fund 4VS. 

To Supplement The Budget, 4VS Applies For Grants & Accepts
Donations From Individuals, Businesses & Organizations.

 4VS Is Non-Commercial & Cannot Receive
Funding Through The Sale Of Air-Time
Or The Sponsoring Of Studio Programs.

Invaluable Career Training Is Available At 4VS.

Formal Classes Are Periodically Scheduled &

On-The-Job Training Occurs Year Round.

 

Members Can Gain Resume Experience, Make TV Contacts &

Get Career Advice From TV Professionals On The Staff.

 

College Students Majoring In Communications

Have Earned Internship Credits By Volunteering At 4VS.

 

Current Television Professionals Are Always Welcomed
To Join The 4VS Staff.  TV Pros Can Help Train The Staff,
Improve Their Own Teaching Skills & Give Something
Back To The Community & Their Chosen Career.

 

Four Village Studio Has Gained A Reputation For Producing

Well-Trained Entry-Level Television Professionals.

The Studio Has Helped To Place Many Local Students

In Their First Professional Jobs.
